Man's Ego

Whether man's ego is at play is shown through their approach to things around them. For when approaches are built on love, no offence will be taken. You can tell a person in the face that they are wrong, no offence will be taken as love is the bridge to that communication of the deed or message.

As our mind registers our love for mankind, the words spoken and the actions taken will ripple off the care and concern instead of the need to be right and respected. The receiving party will inevitably feel that it was all for their benefit.

The Biology of Perception

Recently, I bought a DVD on The Biology of Perception & The Psychology of Change by Dr. Bruce Lipton & Rob Williams.

Dr. Bruce Lipton's findings on how our perception causes the changes in our body stayed with me as it explains very well the reason of us falling ill and getting body aches when we are under too much stre...ss and tension.

You will probably find his video on Youtube. There are 7 parts to it, I find the last few to be most intriguing.

According to him, cells within us can only travel in one direction. When we are under pressure, we react in the flight or fight mode. This means we will instinctively want to use our legs and hands to protect ourselves, thus more cells will travel towards our limbs leaving our brain and our body to function at the minimal rate of efficiency and effectiveness. No wonder we fall sick so easily, get bodyaches, headaches so easily when we are stressed up. The most important thing is, don't expect yourself to be intelligent during such situation.

Therefore, it is important for us to manage our mind so that it is not led by our emotions causing us not able to be able to see things in proportion.

We can do something about our unfavourable thoughts and feelings

There are times when we know the rights from wrong. We understand the dos and don'ts. Yet, we simply could not bring ourselves to do it right. It is our emotion that's in our way. Well, our emotion is the representation of our experience and knowledge that's kept in our sub-conscious mind. Therefore, to not let our emotion takes over, we have to "re-program" our sub-conscious mind.

You can do so for simple issues and changes that you wish to achieve. All you need to do is to formulate a positive statement that will enhance your determination to make the change. Then repeat that statement to yourself when you were in bed, relaxed and about to fall asleep. This is the time when your sub-conscious mind will be more accessible.

Go ahead and give it try. Tell me if you experience any changes.

Finally, he is sleeping well!

When he first called me for an appointment, he told me he may not be able to pay for my service but he was desperate for help. I told him to just drop by for a chat to see if I could help him. He did.

He was weary when he entered and I could tell from his body gesture that he lack confidence and was really tired. His hands were trembling, so was his voice. His exhaustion was written all over his face. He shared with me about the endless unwanted thoughts that enters his mind. He told me his struggle to be more positive and confident of himself. He shared about how helpless and hopeless he felt and his health was terrible. He asked if I could help.

I told him, I definitely will be able to help and he need not worry about the charges. I know how tough it is for taxi drivers and for him, he still got to pay for his mum's and his own medical bills. He paid me the lowest of the fee immediately even before the therapy was scheduled to take place. That was how determined he was to get out of the situation.

1st session: He was rather nervous but he eventually learn to let go and I taught him how to do self-hypnosis. As usual, I did some life coaching too.

2nd session: He came back 1 week later, looking fresh and happy. He told me, "Joyce, you know what, I went to sleep late but I wake up at 3am in the morning and I was feeling fresh and energetic!" He followed what I taught him to do for self-hypnosis dutifully. As a result of that, his sleep improved. He was able to enjoy deep, rested sleep. This in turn, made him feel good and his health improved. He has even used the method to stop himself from harmful thoughts.

Thank you God, angels... for giving me a chance to help him. I am really happy to see the positive energy surrounding him. After the 2nd session and after teaching him the 2nd step in self-hypnosis, I told him he need not come back to see me anymore.

Word of Wisdom for November

Real generosity toward the future lies in giving all to the present.

I am not kidding

When I tell people that the first thing they should take care of is their mind, they smile and say they know. But nothing was done.

When I see a friend who is at the verge of a breakdown because he or she overworked their mind, I offered to do a HypnoSpa to relax their mind for them, they usually say no need even when I don't intend to charge them. They kept thinking that they can still take it. Sigh...

Singaporeans are still not aware of the need for us to respect and take care of our mind as we do our body. It is going to be a long road for me in educating them. Meanwhile, a Mcdonald's manager in Japan die of overworking. His brain i.e. his mind, gave up on him.

"Alive" - Lessons learned

I have watched this show 4 times but never from the start until the 4th time. It is a true life story that amazingly reflects human life. I love this show. It's so meaningful.

Lesson no. 1      Nando tried to convince a man who just lost his wife, to eat so to survive. "Stop thinking about your wife! Start thinking about your children!"
Human in general needs a reason to survive. When a person couldn't find that reason, that person will die first mentally then physically.

Lesson no. 2     "I need more money." said a survivor seating amongst the rest. They took it, and threw it into the fire that was meant to keep everyone alive. That was followed with the rest of their possession.
What's the meaning of u wanting more material possession when all these are the things that may cost your life eventually if you hold on to it for too long and too hard.
Lesson no. 3     Those who think that they can survive alone, die alone (who knows when)

Lesson no. 4     Nando shouted"Go back and get Robeto, tell him that it is alright!". Roberto asked, "Did you see anything?" Tintin informed,"No but he says it is marvelous!" ...

Roberto found out later that there were nothing but mountains. Nando said "No, we are not done. Between this mountains, there will be a valley." Tintin unaware of what they saw, was sent back to bring his percieved good news to the rest of the survivors (70+ days in the snowy mountains)

All you need to do to survive is to make sure you keep a mind that's free of negative influence. Calm it with hope and your body will make sure it functions as if you will live for a long long time. Tintin's news to the survivors gave them hope to stay alive longer while Nando and Roberto had the time to seek help. They survived!

Please please please! Don't stinge on taking care of your mind while spending meaninglessly on things that will only add superficial values to your life.

Teacher's Examination Stress Relief Package

This promotion goes out to all educators. I was a teacher for 9 years. I understand the stress that teachers are going through currently - Marking, Reports, Results, Year End Overseas Trips for the students.

There used to be only treatments for the symptoms - pills for the headache, massage for the bodyaches, more pills for illness.

You need not suffer the symptoms if you just learn to give your mind a break. So if you have friends who are teachers, encourage them to take a break. No more than an hour.

Call for an appointment now at 92716765. House-call available if there are more than 3 persons.

Quantum Touch Workshop

A 2-day Quantum Touch Workshop ended on 11 October 2009 with an unbelieveable result. My associate, Bingz, is a QT Practitioner and Instructor. Amongst us was an elderly Philippine man who had been recieving QT Distance Healing from her. When he experienced the results of the Distance Healing, he decided to flew over for the Workshop.

Day 1, when I met him, he was supported by a metal walking stick. He didn't look very well so I told him to forget about taking off his shoes at the door. After a morning session of QT lesson and hands on healing practice on one another, he decided to go lunch with us without using his walking stick. He felt a little stronger in his right leg to do so.

Day 2, he came back and we continued our lessons taking turns to practise QT on one another. We spend more time for him as he also has spinal problem. He was telling us after each practice that his mind kept wanting to see results. He was so eager that he has difficulty appreciating the healing that he is recieving. Thus, I suggested that we shall do a combination of HypnoSpa and QT.

The other participants started Distance healing outside the therapy room while I help relaxed his mind and focus his attention to recieving healing from the rest. He was so relaxed that he dozed off occassionally. However, like I have mentioned to many, this will not affect the effectiveness of HypnoSpa.

The group doing distance healing reported the intensity of the energy they felt. While for the elderly man, he didn't notice that he left his walking stick behind when he was about to leave the shop. In fact, he stood with one leg on the floor while resting the other on the shoe rack so that he could tie his shoe laces. When I passed him his walking stick, he wasn't using it at all.

I am so happy that healing was done and he benefited from the whole session. Now that I have acquired QT, I will apply it to my therapy sessions to increase the efficiency of the session.

Blissfully Discriminated

I cannot believe how blissfully discriminated I am. I want to give thanks for not letting me know of the discrimination because that would have affected the path that I take.

I always know that someone had backstabbed me at work costing my promotion but I never know how until recently. But that's ok. I am glad I didn't get the promotion which led me to make up my mind in pursuing my dreams.

The incident reminded me of a book I read recently. Applying the theory to my situation, if I have known of the discrimination, I might decided to leave the profession with a vengence. I will strive to be successful just to prove that they made a mistake. My success is, in turned, associated with anger and hatered. In other words, my success will never bring me happiness.

Being blissfully discriminated and thus decided to pursue my dream. My success is associated with freedom and a pure heart of love for humanity. The more successful I am, the happier and fulfilled I will be.

SO! THANK YOU! For not letting me know any earlier. Hahahaha!

Time

I had a conversation with my brother-in-law today and we started to talk about how people spend their time. I told him that I will be leaving for a one week holiday during December. Like any other persons that I spoke to, his first reaction was "How can? What about your business?"

Hahaha! I don't blame him for that. In fact, that was my first reaction to my thoughts about having a break. Yet, I remembered one of the reasons why I set up a business of my own. It is so that I can manage my own time. Time means freedom to me.

Yet, in many people's life, they kept going in circles changing one job for another because they wanted to have more time for themselves. However, they never feel that there is enough time in any of the jobs that they took on. Well folks, nothing will change when your perception does not change. Soon you will give up the idea of having more time to yourself and turn around to tell your family that that's life.

"Honey, I promise I will find time to go on a holiday." Time finally presents itself when you need to take a break so that you can get over a broken relationship.

"Sweetheart, daddy is tired. Let's talk another day." Finally, you have decided you need to talk to your child. Unfortunately, they have no time or interest in talking to you, a stranger, anymore.

"I need a break but I really don't have time." You will have the time when your body gives up on you entirely.

Isn't it interesting how time suddenly appears when the situation gets out of hand?

Did that world you are spending most of your time in collapsed just because you are away?

Same to all those who know that they have an issue to settle within them. They will always come up with seemingly reasonable explanation for not having time to seek help until it is too late.

Well, that's a choice that we are entitled to. We just got to know that we are also the one who needs to bear with the consequences which at times may also hurt those we love.

The Opening Ceremony

Here's the new look for HypnoSpa & Therapy at TPY.

On the day of the opening, we did not cut any ribbons. Instead, we bought 18 mandarin oranges and rolled them into the shop. That was my mum's idea. At the age of 73, she is full of funny ideas.

This is the reception area. I am glad that we finally have a reception area that comes with aircon. At least my clients need not wonder around while waiting for their turn.

Workshops and free talks will also be held here. It's a good size for around 5 to 6 people.

I am not charging for people who wish to understand how Hypnotherapy works because I hope through education, more people will learn to take care of themselves.

Here's the therapy room. Simple and comfy. My visitors simply felt at ease when they walk into the room. I am happy.

There's always a silver lining

I have been really busy with the renovation for my new shop at Blk 94 Toa Payoh Lorong 4 #01-12. Finally, I do not need to operate from an office space that's within a learning centre where no one would have known of my existance if they did not call me in advance.

Quite a number of friends and family asked me why I took up the offer still. Well, it doesn't matter why. As much as it didn't seem good for me, I have learnt precious lessons from the incident. In fact, I am glad I did, so that I know what to look out for in this new shop lease. My delayed search for an ideal shop also landed me in getting this shop space.

It's about 5 minutes walk from Braddell MRT Station - fully covered walkway. 3 minutes walk from the nearest bus stop that is serviced by more than 10 bus service numbers. What makes it even better is the fact that I am just 2 blocks from my family and I know most of the shop owners there.

Great isn't it! There's always a silver lining.

Perceptions

People react according to their perceptions. Perception is generally affected by our knowledge and experiences. No one can have an identical perception of a situation or event.

You kept hearing people telling you to change your perception or the most commonly used "Change your mindset!" I wonder how many really understand perception and mindset when they made such comments.

Basic logic, if you don't know the make-up of something, changing it will be an uphill task.

Now that we understand what affects our perception, the question will be whether we can do something about our knowledge and experiences. After all, they are as real as can be when we learnt them.

Well, good news! Yes, you can do something about these experiences of yours. They are kept within your subconscious mind. Identify the experiences that caused you to develop the undesirable perception or behaviour. Recognises it and consciously make changes to it.

Such remote access is possible through team effort of the person concern and a hypnotherapist. Alternatively, you could learn self-hypnosis techniques and do it yourself.

Therefore, stop saying "I can't help it!"; "I also don't know why I reacted this way. It's really out of my control." Stop because control is not the issue here. Our courage to admit that we need some assistance in gaining control of our life is.

Hypnotherapy is not Supernatural

You would have expected me to write about "perception" in this blog but no... there's something that interest me even more.

Today, after my session with a young client, her mother reported to me that someone told her that hypnotherapy is supernatural. We both laughed about it because she sat in for the first session of the therapy and knows how it was done.

For many years, she has sought help from many specialists for her child but none has helped. Reason being that what’s causing the issue is in the mind and only through Hypnotherapy could the child access her own subconscious mind to find out why she was having such issue and learn to resolve it.

There is nothing supernatural to it. I definitely do not possess supernatural power - though that sounded rather cool. Hahaha!

The only power I probably possess is the power of love for life. The only supernatural intervention if there ever were, will be that of the Divine Creator, God.

It is not unusual for people to associate the unknown with supernatural. However, it is becoming less common as we can see the rate of advancement around us is growing tremendously. Mankind used to believe the earth was flat and that had limited their horizon.

Therefore, fear not the unknown but your limiting thoughts and beliefs for these would be the determinants of your growth in life and wisdom. Seek to understand the unknown, then decide to accept or reject.

This incident has made me even more determined to share my knowledge of hypnotherapy through free talks. Education will be the bridge between ignorance and wisdom.

"Perception Of Deadlines More Stressful Than Deadlines, Says Psychologist" Scientific Blogging

http://www.scientificblogging.com/news_releases/perception_deadlines_more_stressful_deadlines_says_psychologist

I came across this article while researching on Mindset vs Perception. I have to agree totally with the author of the article. Perception determines the outcome of "US" in every situation.

For example, David (not his real name), a friend of mine, came from a very humble background. However, that didn't deter him from becoming a successful businessman. I remember when he first started off to set up his own business using all his hard earned money, his partner ran off with almost every penny that he had. Left him with nothing but creditors and liabilities. What would you have done if you were him?

A few possible scenarios.

Scenario 1 Perceived defeat

Believe that it was fate that he was born to be humble and poor. Gave up his dream of becoming his own boss. Went back to join the work force so as to repay the debts. Walk the rest of his life with his head bowed believing he is a failure.

Scenario 2 Perceived the end of the world.

Could not understand why such things had to happen to him. Believed that nothing good would happen to him. Believed that even if he were to try and pay up the debts, more terrible things would happen to him. Gave up on his life.

Scenario 3 Perceived it as a challenge

And by conquering this challenge he would only be stronger and better. Looked at it as a lesson learnt. Moved on to do whatever he could to repay the debts yet continued to plan his next move taking into consideration the lessons learnt.

That's what David perceived - Scenario 3. But he didn't succeed until he tried a third time. Now, he has an office in Singapore and a factory in China.

Failure is not destructive, your perception of the failure is.

Words are innocent but your perception will determine whether it is a feedback or an insult. Your perception is going to affect your actions and reactions which will result in the kind of relationship you build with the people around you.

But..but..but, perception of the situation is so automatic. I can't help it.... or is there something we can actually do about it?

Of course...

Does everyone need someone's help to resolve their issues?

NO. Some people are simply self-motivated survivors who are always on the move to seek different ways to overcome challenges in their lives.

I am one of them. It's a survivor instinct that keeps us going, not knowing when to say quit to life. Of course, there are times when we feel absolutely exhausted and even dejected. We will stop whatever we are doing and simply do nothing that's related to the challenge that we are facing. Yet, that's not quiting. That's simply resting.

If we are able to will ourselves to clear our mind while resting, wonderful. However, it is really not that easy. The conventional way is to seek distraction - shopping, eating, exercising etc. Even so, some of us may still be thinking about the unresolved issue.

As a Hypnotherapist, I can tell you that such methods are fine especially the healthy ones but the less 'healthy' ones may become bad habits or addiction - another set of problems to resolve.

That's when I realised that HypnoSpa will do the job. I can help my client completely relax their mind within a few minutes. They will emerge feeling completely relaxed and refreshed. With their mind cleared and calmed, they can go back to brave their challenges.

There are enough challenges in life. We don't need to create more by making wrong decisions because we are exhausted or too troubled. We also need not create unnecessary health issues.
